I remember first seeing her in Zebra Head, which was OK.
She knocked it out the box though in Fresh.
Another great actress who does not get enough work.
A little Bio.
Here is a little bio:
Beautiful N'Bushe Wright started out as a dancer, trained at the prestigious Alvin Ailey Dance Center and the Martha Graham School of Dance, but then switched to acting, enrolling at Stella Adler's studio. Within a year, Wright was starring in Anthony Drazan's Zebrahead (1992). That year, she won the recurring role of Claudia, a black civil rights activist fighting for equal opportunities in education in the acclaimed but short-lived NBC television drama I'll Fly Away. She received positive reviews for her moving portrayal of the drug-addicted older sister of the title protagonist in Boaz Yakin's Fresh (1994). The following year, Wright played an idealistic Black Panther in the Hughes Brothers Dead Presidents (1995). A native of New York City, she is the daughter of jazz man Suleiman-Marim and a NYC Board of Education psychologist. Wright attended the Manhattan High School for the Performing Arts.
CLARKSBURG, W. Va. -- The FBI is embarking on a $1 billion effort to build the world’s largest computer database of peoples’ physical characteristics, a project that would give the government unprecedented abilities to identify individuals in the United States and abroad.
Digital images of faces, fingerprints and palm patterns are already flowing into FBI systems in a climate-controlled, secure basement here. Next month, the FBI intends to award a 10-year contract that would significantly expand the amount and kinds of biometric information it receives. And in the coming years, law enforcement authorities around the world will be able to rely on iris patterns, face-shape data, scars and perhaps even the unique ways people walk and talk, to solve crimes and identify criminals and terrorists. The FBI will also retain, upon request by employers, the fingerprints of employees who have undergone criminal background checks so the employers can be notified if employees have brushes with the law.
Ever since you gave of up the comic strip, you been shucking and jiving.
You missed out on Jena Six, Michael Vick, West Virgina, Iraq, Barry Bonds, the hanging of nooses fad, Al Sharpton, so on and so forth.
We could of used your voice for those, your commentary I believe would of put things in light to the same audience that breeze by these issues, but look for your comic strip.
In stead you went with the money.
Its obvious now, the show has turned into a sorry sitcom.
There is no social commentary going on here, just cheap laughs.
Whats with the heavy handed use of the N word?
Whats up with all the kung fu?
Not that you have any positive portrayals of black men on the show but how come there are no recurring characters of black women let alone positive ones?
Where are the lessons at the end of the episodes?
The show has turned into a new version of blaxpoiltaion film.
I dont see anything worth saving here.
You turned into the same people you critque.
The South Park show has more integrity than your.
South Park!
They should of strangled that sick puppy a while ago!
But here you are selling the same B.S., feeding the Zombies.
At least Dave Chappelle got out before it got worse.
Man you sold the hell out faster than a half priced iPhone.
I do not know qhat I am going to do with you but I know I am not drinking any more of your Kool Aid.
New Years is coming up and I am staying dry till than to fully appreciate my tippsyness for the end of the year.
Any one who knows me knows I am a professional drinker.
In fact they call me fish.
A byproduct of college.
In fact it is amazing I have not turned in to an alcoholic.
But I digress.
My favorite sip, and the one I break out for the special occasion is the award winning Haitian Rhum Barbancourt.
Now I do not drink the cheap stuff it kills my stomach.
Top shelf all the way.
I like my liquor like to be in line with my taste in women smooth, dark, strong, not to sweet and not offensive, pleasing to the eye versatile and full of personality. (You can tell I am a drinker).
And Barbancourt is a very sophisticated lady in deed.
The taste is very unassuming smooth going down.
But careful! It is strong and unlike most liquors this one will sneak up on you slowly.
There are different grades.
3 Stars aged 4 years. You can use this with your more traditional mixers.
5 Star aged 8 years. light mixing with this one please. Something like lemon or lime juice or a dash of coco cola.
Reserve Du Domaine aged 15 years. This one is my drink. I take it straight.
They have a white rhum but I have yet to sell out...err.. I mean try it yet.
Try these recipes:
Rhum on the Rocks 2 oz. Rhum Barbancourt
Pour over ice cubes. Add a lemon twist. Barscent 1 oz. Rhum Barbancourt 1/2 oz. Absente 1/2 oz. Cointreau
Serve in shot glass or over ice.
Rhum Barbancourt Daiquiri 1 tsp. Sugar 1-2 oz. Rhum Barbancourt 1/2 oz. Lime Juice
Shake well with cracked ice and strain.
Corkscrew 1-1/2 oz. Rhum Barbancourt 1/2 oz. Dry Vermouth 1/2 oz. Peach Liqueur 1 slice Lime
Shake well all of the ingredients and strain into a pre-chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a slice of lime.
HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) — A federal judge has ordered Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan to appear in court to explain why payments to his son are not considered income.
A Gary couple are seeking to collect $350,000 from Farrakhan's 48-year-old son, who lost a lawsuit after crashing his father's Hummer into their car in 2003 and leaving the scene.
Nasir Farrakhan has yet to pay any of the punitive damages awarded to Charles and Gladys Peterson, though they received $464,000 for their medical expenses from his insurance company.
The younger Farrakhan has said he cannot pay because he has no income, has never been employed and has no checking account or savings.
He argues the $1,400 in cash he receives from his father each month is legally considered charity, even though Nasir Farrakhan has acted as head of the minister's 20-man security force for many years.

The thing that's throwing me off is that it is on ABC and not PBS.
The Black Pharaohs
Based in modern-day Sudan, Kush was an ancient kingdom that flourished for 3000 years.
Here is what it is about:
The Black Pharaohs
As befits their vocation, archaeologists sometimes come across as dry and dusty. Not here. "Exciting? Yes, I haven't slept for two days," says a French excavator.
In 2002, Dr Vivian Davies of the British Museum made a find in upper Egypt that, according to this BBC documentary, "turns our view of history on its head". "Guess what we've got here," Davies says, examining an ancient inscription by torchlight. "We've got an invasion of Egypt by the kingdom of Kush."
The kingdom of Kush? Based in modern-day Sudan, Kush was an ancient kingdom that flourished for 3000 years. Initially Egypt and Kush were friends, partly because the pharaohs had such a fondness for Kush's gold. They liked to be buried in the stuff. As you do.
Relations soured, however, when an army of Kushites invaded Egypt in 1600BC. Egypt bit back like a big, angry asp but a millennium later Kush had its revenge. Interesting stuff accompanied by fetching footage and evocative music.
I am just now getting back into buy CDs instead of straight jacking singles.
Reason being the albums I have brought have been good as in every track good so I do not mind paying as opposed to bootlegging because the LAZY S.O.B. decided he wanted to pass off a bunch of ring tones off as an album thus STEALING from me!
This was a good year for me in terms of R&B and Hip-Hop.
So I am going to share what I brought because the artists put some work in. In no particular order.
Ladies first:
Chrisette Michele
Now any body who knows me knows I pretty much hate R&B the way women hate rap right now.
Both of us have good reasons to.
It's all formulae.
Every one is a knock off of the old Mary J. Blige.
Keisha Cole, Sunshine Anderson, even F#$8% Jill Scott sold out!
I am tired of N#@^% did me wrong so all N&%^@ are the same music that feeds off an army of BBW's, (Bitter Black Women), dating issues and thus blames everything with a melanin full penis instead of the ass in the mirror.
The blogosphere is full of S.O.R.,
(Snake Oil Remedies, [sites that prey on the insecurities of people with the "answer" to there problems])
(Hey if they can come up with color full terms why cant I?),
for B.B.W.s.
I would like the radio air waves to stay out of the business.
Enter the sweet, keep the drama to a minimum, Chrisette Michele with "I AM".
A strong jazzy voice, that blows the roof off a club in a wall to wall of hot fire of an album.
I cant just pick one track.
When I listen to her I hear class and maturity beyond her age.
When she says a man did her wrong I believe her!
As opposed to the others out there that make me say you had it coming.
Just plain old love angst.
No soap opera drama here.
It doesn't work well she will "Be Okay" Because she gave you the "Best Of Me".
She know she is a "Good Girl" and the next man she comes across will know she is "In This For You."
Honey is just bad period.
The total package.
Voice, talent, looks, sweet personality, she has it all.
And of course that means in this day and age jack SH@#$ to the army of Zombies,
(and another one! [see mindless followers]),
that are buying music.
That's alright baby I got your back!
Ryan Shaw
I love Hip-Hop but at heart I am a soul man.
That's the reason I can barely stomach R&B now a days.
I know B.S. when I hear it.
Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Bobby Womack, Sam & Dave, Stevie Wonder, you here all in this dude.
It is as if some one in a time machine went to the 60's and 70's and snatched the kid up before he blew up there.
This is not Neo Soul this is Retro Soul, it is exactly what you would hear from those artist today.
And the kid does it with respect, This Is Ryan Shaw album is a time machine giving you the most accurate look of a by gone era. I have not heard any one come close.
Lookin' for a Love, I Am Your Man, Nobody, We Got Love, Over and Done, I Found a Love, there all just plain old love songs. The dance tracks are just that, Do the 45, I Do the Jerk, light hearted fun no hidden porn messages there.
A winner.
Jay-Z
Jay, Jay, Jay, what can I say about Jay-Z that he has not said about him self?
The definition of professional.
Rhymes may lean but never fall, beats always choice cut, personality present on every verse.
One word to describe Jay's music SWAGGER.
Swagger that turns you into a Zombie and makes you want to get some for your self.
American Gangster is oozing with it.
It is supposed to be his second coming of Reasonable Doubt, but in that he missed the mark.
But the movie gave him a chance to spit shamelessly about drug raps and street angst.
No one does that better.
The choice cuts on here are Hello Brooklyn 2.0, Fallin, Roc Boys, and Blue Magic.
A great album to make up for the middle of the line Kingdom Come.
Wyclef Jean
Now I know what you are saying Clef?
That's right Clef, Hip-Hop has become stagnant with the pollution of Uber-producers.
You want a hit that doesn't make you think, see the short list of producers/stars that constantly rob each other of sounds.
With Clef there is no stealing.
You cant steal a Lamborghini and drive through the hood and think the cops wont see you.
That's too flashy, they know you up to no good.
Same thing with Clef's production and collabos.
Who else is going to put Paul Simon, Sizzla, Norah Jones, Mary J. Blige, Melissa Jimenez Will.I.Am, Machel Montano, Daniela Mercury, Black Alex, Djkout Mizik, Chamillionaire, T.I., Akon, Lil Wayne, Serj Tankian on one album and have it work?
Hell the average rap head could not tell you who half the names on that list are, let alone name one of their tracks.
But Damn if those artist's own fan base do not know and they now know Clef.
And they know every one who got on the album with him too now.
Some people talk about pushing the envelope music wise but Clef mails the damn thing around the planet.
Because of that I can forgive his sub par vocals
His rhyme skills are average but compared to the garbage that most spit he gets the title of MC.
The man can most definitely write a song though, evident with Fast Car, Sweetest Girl, What About The Baby, and Any Other Day.
So Yeah Clef.
Mr. International.
Common
Truth be told I did not think Common could out do his last album "BE".
That album was as close to perfect as pretty boy was going to get in my eyes.
Well jokes on me, Finding Forever is deep.
Track like Misunderstood, (he used a Nina Simone sample, I LLLOOOOVVVE Nina),The People, Southside, The Game, U, Black Maybe, So Far To Go, are deep conscience track delivered over smooth sit down and vibe beats.
There are hidden messages in every track so playing it over is a must.
One of Hip-Hops best albums of the year.
Lupe Fiasco
It's almost impossible for a conscience rapper to come out with a hot album.
Something always holds them back.
Monotonous flow (Talib Kweli), poor focus (Mos Def), zero star power (Jean Gray), weak beats (see every one else).
They either hit or miss their tracks never really putting together a solid album.
Dead Prez came close, Talib and Mos Def's collabo Black Star came real close, Mos Def's Black on Both Sides just missed it at the buzzer, that one hurt.
Well worry no more I have the "answer", (lol), to you problems.
It is called The Cool, by the ever so geeky Lupe Fiasco.
Rhyme skill wise he is a fine tuned instrument, very few can come close.
The way Biggie was so smooth with the ish talking that you wish you did sell crack is the way Lupe is with the conscience lyrics.
You can tell that on tracks like Little Weapon about children and guns, or Dumb It Down the way Hip-Hop is treated by the masses.
Lupe comes swooping in this album like one of those Japanese anime character on some Here I Come To Save The Day ish.
He has it all, great story telling "Hip-Hop saved my Life", love angst "Paris, Tokyo", it's all there.
You the reason I cant stand Christmas because it requires me to do the one thing I hate the most.
Shopping, I hate shopping.
I don not mind buying but I hate shopping.
Whats the difference?
Buying is when you go in a store, go to exactly what your looking for, pay for it, and walk out.
End of story.
Shopping is when you go into the store and look at every single thing in it, and wind up tired, broke and not getting what you wanted in the first place.
Buying 10 min.
Shopping over 2 hours.
During the holidays though there is no buying because that would require you to know excaclty what the person your shopping for wants.
Thus Christmas sucks.
Except this one, this one while looking for others I got what I wanted.
The Complete Cowboy Bebop Remix series.
One of the all time great Animes.
You will find that I have wide range of interests and taste on this blog, anime is one of them.
This series is about a group of rag tag bounty hunter going through space on various adventures earning there credits.
This series is hip now imagine back than.
Great music scores all the episodes, the art work is A+, the story lines are top notch and I got my hands on all of them.
So thank you to the person I was shopping for in the first place for allowing me to spend money meant to go to you on me.
Now If I can get my hand on the complete Samurai Champloo series we good.
I have defended you through thick and thin, through the questionable pick ups, the players point blank unprofessional ism, I even bit my tongue and defended Thomas stupid ass!!
But The one thing I ask in return you have failed to do that is WIN YOU Mother%$@^!!! That's it!!
No, you know what, you don't even have to do that, just compete!!!
You got that fat punk Eddie Curry who refuses to work on his game or get in shape.
Jamal Crawford still does not know what to do with the ball other than chuck it.
Richardson is old.
Jeffries is an expensive bust.
The bench is inexperienced.
And do not get me started on Marbury.
The only bright spot is Zach Randolph and he is surrounded by garbage.
I will not start my New Year watching this BS!
Get it together!
I don't deserve this mess I sat through Hubie Brown's fiasco!
I suffered through the whole Bulls reign of terror!
I took it on the chin when you trade Spree and Camby because they had to much tude for your taste!
There comes a time in a young boys life were what their standards of beauty and desires are beginning to be formed and to get drilled into your head by out side factors, leaving a blue print in their mind subconsciously of what they may find attractive.
These out side factors can be like crawling around the floor as a young boy in a house full of women, giving birth in the mind to a foot fetish.
Some times it is what your environment presents you with. It maybe Ms. Johnson down the street who happens to be bending over her flower bed giving a boy his first look at alien breasts thus an erection and a breast man is born.
It maybe the next door neighbor's daughter you see getting undressed at her bed room window. Giving you an eye full of what you wouldn't see in your own house.
TV images, magazines, music videos, the list goes on and on.
Well at my cross roads into sexual awakening happened to be shaped by by a friend of mines fathers porn stash.
That is when I saw sex for the first time and saw her.
Ebony Ayes
I know it sounds perverted and twisted but look at it this way. Around that time my family wound up living for a year in an all white town with me going to an all white school. Only one other black family was in the neighbor hood and me and the boy of that family became as thick as thieves. And Like thieves we swiped a tape from his dad's videos. I cant remember the name or even what was going on but I remember her.
I remember also what the effects on my standards of beauty and desire were.
I remember walking around that small town not giving the local little white girls a second look, walking through that year in a daze and a perpetual erection.
My first kiss came from a thick lipped Trinidadian honey and I have not been kissed that way since.
I remember not being phased by the "light skinned" era of the 80's and early 90's. Instead I chased every dark skinned sista with a pulse.
Till this day I have a habit of going after older women.
I was into big butts and a smile before Bell Biv Devoe even thought about it.
I became a chocolate fiend.
I was like the white dude who went black and never went back. Except I am black too!
It was as if some one put roots on me.
So there you have it.
My confession.
I am a black Robert Dinero.
And I have a porn star to thank for that.
Ebony Ayes.
I apologise to all women that may be offended by my selection.
If I had to do it all over, well.......YOU DAMN RIGHT I'LL DO IT AGAIN!
I was going to talk about the stats about HIV and how there are people out there who love to blame black men for everything under the sun, but I came across this conversation on What Black Men Think blog that said it better than I could have.
What I love is what I call the, "Pee on me and tell me it's raining", method of debating that some people like to use. Which this commentator to this blog was doing with the "I Love Black Men but....".
I personally could do with out that type of love.
Some would say I am being mean, but to hell with that, to many people running on the net with this type of mentality.
In Saudia Arabia a 19 year old gang rape victim known as "Girl of Qutif" after her home town, was pardoned from her six month prison sentence and 200 lashes for being alone with a man who was not a related to her, by the Saudi King. The woman who met the man to retrieve a picture of her self because she had recently married, was pulled out of the car by seven men and raped.
The sentence of the men ranged from 10 months to 5 years, which was raised to 2 to 9 years after an appeal.
(But here is were it gets interesting.)
International outrage over the sentence prompted unusually strong words from President Bush, who said if the same thing had happened to one of his daughters he would be "angry" at the government that didnt protect the victim. The White House called the sentence "outrageous". (outraged huh?)
National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe said the king "made the right decision" by pardoning the woman.
"Certainly we are pleased that the action occured" said State Dept. Deputy Tom Casey. "I think every was rather astonished by the initial verdict, and I hope this puts this case to rest"
Saudi Officials have been wary of hurting there image in the eyes of the United States. (Is that some type of joke?)
Now throw in some race and add that up with this from the same paper the next day:
Wednesday DEC 19
Prosecutors closed their investigation of the disappearance of American Teenager Natalee Holloway. This after (get this now ):
"Police, Soldiers, and hundreds of volunteers combed the hillsides and beaches of this 75 square foot island. Investigators partially drained a pond. Divers with searched the sea bed off shore. Dutch F-16 fighters with search equipment conducted overflights. Dogs sniffed for the body. Investigator interviewed hundreds of potential witnesses and re-arrested several suspects. At times it seemed that Aruba it self was on trial as some U.S. politicians and journalists assailed its ability to investigate the case". (All that for one little white woman).
Also the same day same paper:
Gang Rape Victim Case in Limbo.
Wednesday Dec 19
A Texas woman who says she was drugged and gang raped by Halliburton-KBR co-workers in Iraq was to testify Wednesday before the House Judiciary Committee about safety of Americans working over seas for U.S. contractors. The Victim, Jamie Leigh Jones, claims that after the attack the company kept her under guard inside a shipping container and warned her she would lose her job if she reported the rape.
Rep. Hank Williams a Ga, Dekalb county Democrat and member of the committee is demanding answers on behalf of Jamie Leigh Jones . Since military as well as the Justice dept have no jurisdiction to purse criminal charges against private contractors in Iraq the only course of action of the victim is to file civil law suit against the company. (So the rapist walk?)
Now add those up with:
Dunbar Village.
Megan Williams.
PFC. Johnson.
And what do you get?
Mean while back on Planet Earth.
Did not hear squat from the White House on these older cases.
I wonder why is that?
Maybe if Megan Williams, Pfc. Johnson, The lady of Dunbar, and now Jones had the brains to hold a can of oil while being raped they too could get the attention of the White House like the "Girl of Qutif".
Or how about being white in a foreign country? (Jones could be white)
Or maybe having influential parents?
Oh wait did I take it to far?
My bad.
You know me I tend to think people see what I see and when they do not I can get emotional.
I really should care less, just let the band keep playing.
The height of irony is when you change doctors to find out that your new doctor is a patient of your old doctor.
"Think Wrongly if you please but in all cases think for your self" Doris Lessing, Charlotte Observer
If Dracula can not see his reflection in the mirror why is his hair always so neatly combed?
A new Japanese law now allows the long suffering corporate wives to claim half their husbands pension if they are divorced. Since the law has passed the divorce rate has jumped up 6.1%
I enjoy reading a good book something my mother forced upon me as a kid that I appreciate now as an adult (back than though whew!).
I am one of those dudes that can read more than one thing at a time, in fact while in college I always have some type of book not dealing with school with me.
The courses I have been taking of late have been heavy so I have kept my reading lite.
As in Graphic Novel lite.
Graphic Novels are the cross between comics and novels, and should be respected in my opinion as literature.
Same respect you would give anything on the New York Times top sellers list. (Ever tried reading the books off that list? Is it me or are most those books high browed bullshit?)
Any way what I read during finals was:
Lucifer's Garden of Verses: The Devil on Fever Street (Lucifers Garden of Verses 1) by Lance Tooks
I remember buying this brothers first novel Narcissa off a New York side walk. I was impressed with the simple yet at the same time detailed and emotional art work as well as the story line of a young black woman in Spain. I was fiending for his work since. (In fact if I am not mistaken he may have been the street vendor I brought it from.)
Lance Tooks
Along comes Lucifer a first in what is a series of GN following old scratches dirty work on Earth. The art work is modern here with him using pics as well as his pencil to get the pics out. Here is a review of the book.
From Publishers Weekly That perennial wellspring of comic inspiration, the prince of darkness, is back. This time, the devil inhabits a b&w world, mostly inked and occasionally Photoshopped. We find Tooks's Lucifer awakening after a hundred-year nap, just in time for Armageddon, which is scheduled to occur a week after the story opens. Lucifer's henchmen, Beelzebub and Belial, are thoroughly up to date Kangol-wearing characters—this Lucifer walks today's urban streets. Eager to get their boss back into top evildoing condition, Lucifer's pals suggest that he re-enter the world of misanthropy by seducing a righteous woman: Black Lily Baptiste, a former prostitute who found God after her pimp beat her unconscious but accidentally left her with a winning lottery ticket. Her faith is strong—so strong, in fact, that when the devil shows up as a muscle-bound yet gentle man wearing a tight black T-shirt, the tables are turned and Lucifer ends up being the one who falls. But just when it looks like the devil really might leave the demonic world, there's a final plot twist. Tooks's story lacks complexity, but the world he draws is an appealing one, its sassy denizens rendered with energy. He's at his best conjuring up secondary players: mischievously ambitious demons, squabbling kids and ancillary characters reading their work at the poetry slam.
This is one of my all time favorite MC of all time. They do not build them like Kris any more his skills, battle ready, conscience, charisma the package.I remember when he came down to the Atrium on Memorial Dr. Decatur. Back than the Atrium had some serious acts coming through. Just him a DJ and Two B-Boys. Dude tore the roof off the joint. Were talking about grown men acting like little teenagers when he came on stage. At one point he cut the music, put the mic down and kicked it solo. His voice filled the whole club up that's why some called him Master Blaster. His best album to me was Edutainment, his best track may be this one right here.
Here is a performance at the Def Poetry Jam feat Doug E. Fresh.
I was a fan of City of God the award winning Brazillian coming of age Gansta movie. I was a fan of the TV series City of men that did not follow the same story line but used the same cast to tell the stories of two boys growing up in ta Brazillian ghetto.
Now here comes the movie that follows the Tv series. Now the producers are squeezing the blood out of a winning franchise but so far there has been no misses and from the looks of this trailer this is another winner.
Blogxilla did these 13 reason joint. It was funny and truth full at the same time. Now I do not agree with some of them but number 7 was real for me. Check it out.
Ike Wister Turner (November 5, 1931 – December 12, 2007) was an American musician, bandleader, talent scout, and record producer, best known for his work with his then wife Tina Turner as one half of the Ike & Tina Turner duo. Spanning a career that lasted half a century, Ike's repertoire included blues, soul, rock, and funk. Alongside his former wife, he was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and in 2001 was inducted into the St. Louis Walk of Fame.
First I would like to say R.I.P and my condolences to his family.
And the truth is I do not know how to feel about an abusive man who gave so much to American music.
Does one out weight the other?
Can you separate them?
If so what about others who are in similar categories like R.Kelly?
Rumor is that Kai Franklin daughter of Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin and the former wife Tremayne Graham a drug dealer has been convicted of money laundering (says she pleaded guilty)her ex's drug money.
I do not know if it is true at this time but I like to get a jump on things. Now I could care less about her conviction no way am I to believe she did not know what was going on. But I am concerned about the effect this will have on the mayor. I like Mayor Franklin, she has had her ups and downs but she got things moving and gave the city a face lift after the former Mayor Campbell screwed things up.
Hold up no rumor damn, Here is the link: http://www.cbs46.com/news/14873174/detail.html
This woman is stunning what I call a stallion. Her very short body of work shows she had a bright future a head of her or may still do. I have no idea what she is doing now Rumor is that she is suffering from Bi-polar and drug addiction which is probably tied in together. That is tragic the looks, the talent the personality it was all their. I hope she can come back and come back hard.
From the AP: Attorney General Michael Mukasey refused Tuesday to be rushed into deciding whether he considers waterboarding a form of torture, saying simply he understands the "intense interest"in the issue now at the heart of an inquiry into video taped interrogations of terror suspects that were destroyed by the C.I.A.
In his first news conference, Mukasey relied on his nearly two decades as a federal judge to push back on questions about his thoughts on waterboarding, much as he had done with senators who asked before voting to confirm his nomination Nov 8.
Mukasey he has yet concluded a review of Justice Department memos to determine whether waterboarding amounts to torture, which would deem it illegal.
He needs to review Justice Department memos to decide if this
is torture?
Well hell, I can understand that.
I mean to me it looks like these men are just teaching this fellow here how to swim on land.
Faced covered.
With his hands tied.
While answering questions.
I mean if he answers the questions they'll let him up and he go knowing that he is a better swimmer because of this and if God decides to pull another Katrina and let it rain 40 days and 40 nights he will be well prepared.
What the hell is every body upset about?
This is democracy at it's best, we are spreading the gospel of freedom and love by teaching the rest of the world how to swim.
On land.
With there hands tied.
Faced covered.
While answering questions.
And of course the possibility of catching a bullet to the head if you answer to many wrong.
I understand the Attorney Generals reluctance to rush to conclusions.
Mean while back on Planet Earth:
What the hell!?
Is this where my tax dollars go to?
Is this why I voted, so those Representatives can vote this Mukasey in so he can say some mess like that?
So they can turn some dude upside down and clean out his lungs with H2O and than look the world dead in the eyes with the straight face and say well technically this is not torture?
I feel safer already.
I mean there is the chance that some one may want to get pay back for this and I might be caught in the middle of the war ideologies but hell it's all about democracy, freedom and safety right.
Here is my word of advice don't drink the koolaid.
Friday, December 14, 2007
Well, well, well.
Looks like the cat has some more lives left in him.
Straight up aced my final, passed the semester next phase coming up.
No one can tell me jack right about now!
Thanks to those who wished me luck and to those who had something slick to say, well thank you to.
Report says U.S. jails more blacks than whites for drugs
ATLANTA (Reuters) - Black Americans are 10 times more likely to be imprisoned for illegal drug offenses than whites, even though both groups use and sell drugs at the same rate, according to a study released on Tuesday.
Almost all large counties in the United States showed sharp disparities along racial lines in the sentencing of drug offenders, the study by the Washington-based Justice Policy Institute showed.
There were 1.5 million drug arrests out of 19.5 million drug users in 2002, it said. About 175,000 people were incarcerated for a drug offense, of which half were black, even though blacks account for 13 percent of the U.S. population, it said.
The study looked at data from 198 U.S. counties with the biggest population. Its findings were similar to others on the subject, but it is the first to look at relative incarceration rates at a local level.
"What you keep seeing is this towering drug admission rate for African Americans and a very small rate for whites. In many cases, the admission rate for whites is smaller than the (percentage of whites in the) whole population," said Jason Ziedenberg, the institute's executive director.
No, really?
Your kidding?
I thought we were genetically programed to go from the womb to the jail cell?
This is shocking. You mean all along it was you and not me?
I must say I do not know what to do with the rest of my life.
I mean I have been just dragging my feet in life thinking there is no reason to do anything useful with my life because I am destined for the Industrial complex, (sorry WAOD), that is the prison system.
Damn I guess I have to make something out of myself now.
Back to Planet Earth
I wonder how much they pay idiots like these to tell people things they already knew?
Say what you will about Wyclef lyric wise but you can not deny that he will push the Hip-Hop envelope with his music and collabos. In the era of the uber-thugs who is expecting Paul Simon on a rap beat? I always said Clef shpould just produce this would of been real sick if it was just Paul Simon.
Oh and by the way Paul Simon IS THE SHIT!
Lupe Fiasco "Superstar"
I have yet to here some weak stuff from Lupe this album is serious.
While cruising the net when I should have been studying for my exams I went to one of my favorite site to hang out at, and generally step on toes and run like hell, Gerard Butler After Dark.
It is a site were these very smart Sistas do what every body on the blogosphere does and that's talk about stuff that effects them. They also happened to be big fans of the actor Gerard Butler thus the name. Any way while there I came across this post: http://www.gerardbutler-afterdark.com/2007/12/tale-of-two-tests.html
The author was talking about how the word female is basically the same as bitch now I have never used the former have for the latter as you can see on a previous post of mine. But after reading her article I would have to agree. The men that I know that have used it never used it in a "good way", I never thought about it though, it just did not occur to me that it is insulting.
Terrence Howard, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose and James Earl Jones will star in director Debbie Allen’s Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.”
Pride is a terrible thing. It keeps you from saying things that should be said like, I am sorry.
This past weekend I sinned I called a woman a bitch, my Ex to be exact, she as usual found my buttons and pressed them and as usual instead of leaving it alone I went at it, over the silliest thing, a text message.
A little history my ex, will call her DQ, met through a mutual friend in 2001, I was going about my life pretty care free as always when we met and I guess you can say we fell in"love" I damn sure was not looking for it, or at least that is what I thought than but considering the type of person she was and the type I am I really do not know what we saw on each other.
I think we were just looking for something and we both settled for each other.
I was in college, she never graduated from high school, I had no kids she had two little girls that I fell for.
She had no ambition I had some.
We wound up living together.
The moment I moved in things went to hell.
I wont get into details about it, I will save that for later when I can be more objective about it, besides if you were to ask her I am sure she has her own version of things.
Some how we remained friends (or rather I her friend again I'll explain later) after words.
Back to the point, Sunday she sends me a chain letter text, one of those text messages that go like a chain letter were you have to send it off to people.
She did this on my work cell phone one where everything you do on it is a charge.
She does it all the time. I asked her to stop before but she keeps on going and I always laugh or joke it off.
Not this time, this time I am stressed about exams and work and family I am in no mood.
I use humor as a coping skill to deal with the stress but it was not working this weekend.
So when I asked her for the umpteenth time to quit it I got the usual NO.
I asked her again she says no.
I called her an asshole she says "yeah but you like this asshole".
That's when I said it, "fuck you bitch" and I meant it.
We go at it on the phone swear each other to hell and that I am sure is the end of the tragic love that was between Clnmike and Dq.
I hated I said it after the fact now, I have been trying to change my ways for a while now and I thought I had a good handle on things.
But she got to me or rather I let her get to me.
I knew the type of person she was and I still bit the bait.
I am not mad with her now I am mad with my self, I should of left her alone a long time ago but dragged my feet about it.
I want to say to her hey I am sorry that was wrong of me you did not deserve that I am an asshole, but I cant, not to her, not after the things that I went through with her.
My pride wont let me, instead it says curse her out some more, tell her what you really think of her.
Let her know that you could care less if she lives or dies.
That's what pride is telling me, and I cant shake it off right now.
I'll sleep on it, pray on it, work on it, but right now I am going to leave it alone.
Three women are discussing their teenage daughters.
The first declares: "I was so shocked last week. I was tidying my daughter''s room and I found a packet of cigarettes under her pillow. I didn't even know that she smoked!"
"It gets worse than that," says the second mother. "I was tidying my daughter''s room last week and I found a bottle of vodka under her bed. I didn't even know that she drank!"
"Oh, it gets even worse than that," says the third mother. "I was tidying my daughter''s room last week and you''ll never guess what I found in her bedside cabinet: a packet of condoms! I didn't even know that she had a penis!"
Another man goes free after serving hard time for a crime he did not commit.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported yesterday the release of another man wrongly convicted of rape.
Lets see that is:
1- Calvin Johnson Jr., convicted in 1983 of rape, aggravated sodomy, and burglary in College Park Ga. Served 15 and a half years before in 1999 exonerated with the help of Innocence Project (New York).
2- Douglas Echols convicted in 1987 of rape and kidnapping and robbery in Savannah. Exonerated in 2002 with the help of Innocence Project (New York).
3- Samuel Scott with Echols convicted in 1987 of rape and kidnapping and robbery in Savannah. Exonerated in 2002 with the help of Innocence Project (New York).
4- Clarence Harrison, convicted in 1987 of rape, robbery, and kidnapping in Decatur Ga. In 2004 exonerated with the help of Innocence Project (Georgia).
5- Robert Clark Convicted in 1982 of rape kidnapping and armed robbery in East Atlanta. In 2005 exonerated with the help of the Innocence Project (Georgia and New York).
6- Willie Otis “Pete” Williams, Convicted in 1985 of rape, kidnapping, and aggravated sodomy in Atlanta. In 2005 exonerated with the help of Innocence Project (Georgia).
7- John White convicted in 1979 of rape and robbery. In 2007 exonerated with the help of Innocence Project (Georgia).
This is just in Georgia, were not talking about not the rest of the country.
This is becoming very common place now, what always amazes me is that when they show these men they seem so calm, peaceful, forgiving.
I wonder how these men come out not having hate tattooed on their heart.
How do you not hate the judge, the DA, the jury the prison, the victim, white people, women, anything?
How do you not feel bitter about having your time in life robbed from you what in some cases maybe just plain old set up by the police and DA?
How do not want to act like an Islamic fundamentalist and murder everything moving?
With God in their heart I guess.
I know me, I would hate every living thing on this planet.
I know I would come out of there ready to do something that would send me back to prison with the quickness.
God could only save me, and he would have a tough time doing it.
But you know the sad thing about this that know realize is the there are two injustices that are done here.
The wrongly convicted and the victim of the rapes.
Just because these men were innocent does not mean that a crime did not take place.
Those women were raped and they were robbed of there opportunity to justice by what I would say less than competent police and DA work.
But no one ever puts these people up to task for it.
Hell the DA in the Duke Lacrosse case was disbarred for trying to put those boys on trial.
These men served hard time! 16, 15, 15, 17, 23, 28 years served by these men!
Just "oops my bad".
No disbarment no firing no pensions snatched back.
Naw family it cant be me, I am not that good of a person to not want a pound of flesh if that was done to me.
I would kill.
Thats why I think I need to take my butt to church I need some of that God love to keep me sane.
Thanks to the Innocent Project for caring and proving that yeah the "Man" is out to get us.
I do not care if he was the Idi Amin, Adolph Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, and George Bush of the canine world.
I do not care if you own one, and it is your baby and you kiss the nasty bastards in the mouth!
Dogs.
That is what we are talking about here.
Not murder.
Not rape.
Not torture of a Human being.
Dogs.
23 months out of a mans life for an animal that in some parts of the world is on the dinner menu!
Some people call it an atrocity.
Atrocity!!??
No, Somalia, Sudan, Rwanda, Dunbar Village, Pfc. Johnson, Sean Taylor, Jena Six, Genarlow Wilson, every rail roaded black man who spent time in jail in prison on rape charges just to find out by DNA evidence that they did not do it, THAT is an ATROCITY.
Mike Vick is an idiot with to much time and money on his hands. THAT'S it.
DAWGS!?!?
I have no EMPATHY for dogs and there like, I save that for the two legged walking, talking, rationalizing, soul having animals called MAN.
DAMN a dog.
This is a perfect example of the profit mongering judicial system and prison system at it's best.
There is money in locking people up who have no reason to be in jail and business is good in this country.
Of all the REAL crimes that go on they lock some one up for DOG FIGHTING.
23 months.
Dogs.
I would like to take the time to address the DA, the judge, PETA, the "Humane" Society, and all the dog lovers out there who consider phido a member of the "family".
FUCK YOU.
And I mean that from the bottom of my heart, you two faced, hypocritical, self righteous, crooked punks.
You want a cause?
You want to lock some one up?
Take your asses down to West Palm Beach, Florida to Dunbar Village bastards.
First DOG I see I am kicking it! Come here Pluto!!
Whew, I am sorry just had to get that off my chest.
And still undisputed, undefeated, Pound for pound welter weight champion of the World!!!!!
Floyd Pretty Boy Mayweather!!!
Hot Damn that was a good fight, I caught it at Scores one of my favorite spots. The place was jumping, drinks were flowing, the women were hot stepping. Good times.
And Floyd well he was his usual masterful self, the fight looked closer than it actually was, I mean the Brit did come to fight. But when you saw the last two rounds and the knock out you real zed that it was not even close. Congrats to Floyd.
Signs that Show the World is Changing. (You May Be A Dinosaur)
Pulled from the Blotter of the Creative Loafing.
An 18 year old boy states to police that nine girls jumped him. (He weighs 120lbs) He says there is an ongoing problem with these girls picking on him, calling himgay and other names. He said today at school, one girl said they were going to fight him after class. He said he told the girls he did not want to fight and than one of the girls grabbed his hoodie jacket and ran outside. He said he wasnt to worried about the hoodie, untill another student came in and said the girls set it on fire. He walked out side were the nine girls than jumped him.
He said later that night, the same girls walked past him and his sister and they flashed a box cutter and said: "It's not over yet".
Man, the world is a lot different now than when I was growing up. Girls just did not do that. And if they did, well, lets just say we treated them like boys if they wanted to act that way.
There is something to be said about a woman who loves sports all sports. I am not talking likes it but loves it. She knows the stats, the teams, the news, everything. a guy like me who loves sports can never be bored with her. I also believe a woman who pays attention to sports for her own pleasure understands men more. I'll be willing to put money down that they even stay married longer than woman who do not. This leads me to my pick for beauty of the week: Jemele Hill.
Not only is Ms. Hill a sports columnist she is a social commentator when it comes to sports. Which if you have ever been on the online ESPN threads of comments on her articles you know she has an army of haters. I mean a ARMY of haters, all fitting into the categories of racists, sexists, bigots, losers, who keep coming back to try to kill her career. But my baby keeps trucking not lowering herself to even respond to the bums. I take up that job for myself.
So Boys and Girls I present Jemele Hill Beauty of the Week.
Jemele Hill, 30, is a sports columnist for the Orlando Sentinel, where she has worked since February 2005. Before moving to Orlando, Hill covered Michigan State football and basketball for the Detroit Free Press for six years. While in Detroit, she covered five Final Fours, four college football national championship games, the 2004 Summer Olympics and the NBA playoffs. Her first job out of college was as a general assignment reporter for the Raleigh, North Carolina News & Observer. She is currently working as a columnist for Page 2 of ESPN online.

Finals are over and I have ZERO idea how idea how I did. When you look at a test and it starts to look like it was written in another language that is never a good sign. I'll get the results Friday. Oh well time to play catch up.
I am in a Soul Man type of mood I think I will dedicate the rest of the week to the classics. Will Start with the original singing dirty old man Clarence Carter. Here is a review I got off Yahoo. Of coures there is no video so i got this bland piece off of You Tube.
Modern audiences for his ribald "Strokin'," a synthesized piece of silliness cut two decades after his prime. His career, however, dates back to the early 60's when he cut numerous hits for Atlantic Records. Carter was capable of deep pathos ("Patches") in addition to more libidinous emotions, though songs of cheating and cocksmanship always dominated his repertoire. His gruff, expressive voice - supported by the celebrated Muscle Shoals rhythm section - transformed "Slip Away," "Making Love (At The Dark End Of The Street)," and "Too Weak To Fight" into instant soul classics.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Three white former police officers were sentenced to long prison terms Thursday for the off-duty beating of a biracial man, an attack that outraged the city and sent protesters into the streets.
If the officers had known they were beating down a biracial man I am positive they of done the right thing and just beaten the black side of him senseless and thus saved them selves from jail time.
It is obviously the biracial man's own fault for not wearing a sign saying,
“Hey I am only half black you are safe 50% of the time.”
To think those poor officers were duped into distributing a proper ass whooping meant for a black man to the white side of this mixed Frank Jude Jr.
I for one am outraged, and disgusted by the lack knowledge of the existence by whites to there genetic brethren.
I propose that a law be passed requiring all mixed race people to carry a card that clearly states percentage of blood line mixtures thus allowing people to practice the proper amount of discrimination and stereotyping.
Imagine a 50% white person being allowed to get profiled only half the time.
25% black? Well than you would only be followed around a store for 25% of the time your there just show the cashier your card before shopping.
You would be entitled to the percentage amount of your black blood to public assistance, affirmative action, race based admissions and such.
But fret not the white part of you will cover the rest through, privilege, nepotism, law enforcement bias, etc, etc.
Now of course if you are mixed with something other than white well, thats your ass.
Your mother father should of thought of your future.
For the rest of you just show your mixed race ID in hectic situations and rest assured that you will not be afforded the full wrath meant for a black person.
Side Bar: If you live in the New York area do not carry your ID in your wallet.
I love this woman, her voice is captivating. Every emotion is expressed pain, sorrow, anger happiness. A vocal genius. She took a stance in tough times, her stle was sexy, home grown. It kills me that she was is not praised and put on a pedestal like Aretha and Glayds. Thats ok baby, Im going to keep the faith. Boys and girls a real diva Nina Simone.
