Hunter and his wife, Katrina, who was also born and raised here, have officially donated more than $1 million to their various causes, though close friends are sure the total is much more than that, because of all Hunter does without fanfare.

Hunter is intimately involved with an acclaimed character-development program called Heart Of A Champion, an in-school curriculum that is used in 23 states. He is underwriting college scholarships for a hundred students over five years through a program called Hunter’s 100, and built a youth baseball field in California in an effort to encourage inner-city kids to play the game. He’s also put money into a food-distribution network here, and, according to Skip Perkins Jr., the athletic director at the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, is by far the biggest contributor to the $5 million Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex on a 15.5-acre parcel that is being built adjacent to the campus.

"You can’t meet a better person than Torii Hunter. He’s one in a billion," Perkins says.

I like to point out the athletes who are doing positive things especially when they give back to the communities they come from, because the media will always give these type of activities as back page press in favor of misconduct by a few others.

To let them say it there all hyper-sexual criminally leaning, thugs, which is that is what they think of the community at large.

That type of reporting has to be checked, and Torii's story is a good way to do it.

****A friend invited me to her daughter's graduation last week.

Graduation from 5th to 6th grade.

I don't recall having one so I am not sure if this is something new or if most schools have this ceremony, but considering Georgia's drop out rate I guess it's a good idea to have one early for them just in case.

This kid is smart as a whip so I expect her to have a Master's degree from somewhere.

I am surprised she of all people want to talk about some one's looks, if I recall correctly this is the same model that they referred to as the "white girl dipped in chocolate" as in not black.

When kids go bad..,

The Good Girl called me the other day and told me a very disturbing event that happened at the school were she has her kids.

She pulls up to pick up her son and daughter and notices her 4 year old son out side with an older white girl standing behind a tree out of site of the teachers.

She than watches as the the little girl (who she finds out later is about 9 years old), pulls down her pants and shows her naked butt to her son, she quickly pulls up her pants when she sees a school bus pass by and than pulls down her pants and shows the kid her front and grabs his hand and was trying to get him to touch her.

So at this point the Good Girl reaches them and is in full mother hen mode, both kids get blessed out as well as the teachers who were not paying attention.

And for good reason too I might add, look at it this way;

1- the teachers were not paying attention to the kids so they could have wandered off any were or worse yet got snatched up by somebody.

2- If the wrong person walks by and see this than the story changes from fast little girl showing her stuff to a 4 year old to predatory little four year old black boy attempts to molest innocent young girl.

3- Little girls don't just play around like that, somebody taught her this and somebody might have given her something which she in turned could have passed off to him.

Which leads to this, this is not the first time this little girl has been brought to the attention of the Good Girl, apparently during a PTA night one of the board members warned her not to let her kids play with the little girl because she was "bad", no further explanation.

And for that matter this apparently was not the first time her son has been been given a crash course in anatomy and physiology the advanced edition.

Upon further interrogation by the mother, (in what I could only imagine was a session that would have made a C.I.A torture experts and Dick Cheney proud), the poor kid confessed that another little girl showed off her prepubescent chest to him in the same school earlier that year.

So she is flustered and is thinking about reporting the incident to child services.

I say there is nothing to think about go ahead and drop dime, snitch like there is no tomorrow, because besides the three point said above,

4- Schools if given the option will always look the other way, no harm no foul so life goes on.

5- Which means that this little girl goes on to try another little boy and have a full blown police investigation take place.

6- Despite what every one thinks little boys introduced to sex before there ready are traumatized by it.

7- Somebody has done this little girl wrong and they need to be locked up and she needs help.

I cant be mad at the little girl some body has twisted her mind and like some people who are abused they inadvertently pass on that abuse to some one else continuing a cycle.

I hope the kid gets help.

Why So Serious?

Yeah I have definitely pissed some one off in the Heavens above.

It starts off with my academic advisor at school, I go in there thinking she can help me figure out what credit hours are going to carry over back to my state college for the program I decided I am going to do.

The idea is that I go in there and jump straight in the program for spring of 2010 and be done in spring 2011.

From there I planned to move to either of the following countries:

1 Haiti
2 Dominican Republic
3 Brazil
4 Senegal
5 Zanzibar
6 South Africa
7 Jamaica
8 French Guiana
9 Ghana
10 Cameroon.

I'll work about six months in the United States and chill the rest of the time off the power of the dollar at the beach home of my choice.

Although after seeing my mom come through here like a baller out of control I am thinking stay in the states and just work in Europe were the Euro and the British pound seem to be kicking the dollars ass all up and down the planet.

That was the plan, so the counselor and I start going over my transcripts and she starts to write down the class I need to complete........and writing......and writing......and.....WTF!?!?!

The woman put down 10 classes half of which I already took but because of the time I took them they no longer count.

Plans shot the hell down, I wanted to get up and walk out when she got to 5, I was going to be real lazy about it and take class when ever, but now it looks like I got to take a full load all the way through just to get in the fall of 2010.

If she wasn't cute I would have told her to do it again she made a mistake.

Moving on, last Friday I am dropping a friend off home in the middle of a thunder storm after hanging out.

I am going down the street and I got the light, I see another car coming the opposite way.

I cross the light this idiot turns right into my truck and some how rearranges my front end!

I get out ready to fight, cause at this point the year has sucked ass and I'm ready to unleash, my home boy literally snatches me up holding me back in the middle of the storm as I am trying to get at the two Africans who wouldn't yield.

I had to walk around the block to calm my self till the cops got there.

Now truth be told I was lucky, my car is still drivable while theirs was total, (there is an advantage to driving a truck).

But I am pissed cause I know it is going to take the insurance company all year to pay me an get it fixed and considering the year they might try to play slick and total it out.

And to add icing to the cake the ex who has been going to church of late has been sending me inspirational religious text messages.

!?!??!?!?!

B@#$% I'm shocked you don't explode in the house of the lord the moment you step in there.

That right there is why I don't go to church, absolutely no screening at the door.

Church needs to be like an exclusive club with standards.

Right at the door they need to be like "Excuse me sir we don't allow pimps in here...no mama ho's are not allowed.......sir we don't allow dead beat dads......miss I am going to have to ask you to find a skirt that fits before you come in.....I am sorry we have a rule about hypocrites".

Good News Tuesday: Back To The Debates.

Movie revives black college's debate team.

MARSHALL, Texas - The movie "The Great Debaters" made millions aware of the decades-old accomplishments of the debate team at a small historically black college tucked deep in the piney woods of East Texas — and gave that history new life at the school itself.

Before work began on the film, the Wiley College team that broke racial barriers with several impressive victories in the 1930s was a faded memory. When the school received e-mails from debaters all over the country after the movie was released a year ago, there was no team for them to join.

That has changed, thanks to donations including $1 million from the movie's star and director, Denzel Washington. An 11-member team started debating this fall, and its ranks are expected to eventually grow to about 30.........

...........Haywood L. Strickland, the school's president since 2000, said the idea of restarting the program came while the movie crew was doing research on the campus. He said Washington's donation, helped jump-start its revival.

"We're always looking for ways in which to engage and excite students," he said. "It occurred to us that even though it's something built on history, it's been demonstrated this is a good way to get students involved."

Debate coach Shannon LaBove came to Wiley over the summer.

She whittled down the prospects to a team of 11, all of whom got some kind of scholarship.

The new team did an exhibition debate at Oklahoma City University in October to commemorate the 1931 meeting between the two teams, believed to have been the first interracial debate in the South.

"We have to make our own history, while respecting the previous," LaBove said.
She said this is a building year for the team, but she expects it to be nationally competitive within a couple of years.

"I think we want to once again put Wiley on the map as a force to be reckoned with," she said.

The primarily liberal arts university, founded in 1873, has 967 students and its enrollment has been climbing for the last eight years. It's located in Marshall, a town of about 24,000 not far from the Louisiana state line.

Public speaking and debate was one of those activities that I was forced to take as a kid in school.

Had absolutely no appreciation for it than but I think the world of it now as I see signs of that experience pop up in my life.

I am glad to see it make a come back in the college the movie was based on, and that Denzel continues to show why he is a class act.

I mean I know it's not much but it has to be better than most.

They got to do a better job evaluating these teachers.

When I was growing up the most we had to worry about being targeted by a--hole teachers who we swore was out to get us for one reason or another.

But today's schools look like a cross between the Sopranos and Sex in the City.

If kids are not trying to beat up the teachers there sleeping with them.

At this point you have no idea who to blame, I mean you could say it's the teachers that are working, but exactly how did they get the job?

Who is doing background checks, and evaluating them?

How come the parents are always so clueless as to whats going on with their kids?

Crap like this makes a good case for home schooling.

And thank God that wasn't the thing when I was growing up.

Listening to my mother lecture was a form of slow torture to this day I cant take it when some one talks to me for more than 5 minutes, I start daydreaming with the quickness.

School aint no joke!

This is just sick.


Now in reality this is not just Baltimore it's all over the place with these kids.

I have a friend who used to work as a security job at an elementary school in Atlanta and would come back with some horror stories, of fights attack on teachers and prostitution. He said the biggest problems were the adults who acted like the kids who did the crime were innocent victims of the overzealous schools.

How can you make a case for public education?

Hell home schooling or private school is a dream come true for a parent considering.

Ive been in both public and private schools and to tell you the truth the private school was really a reform school so there was not much difference between them and public schools but they damn sure wasn't wide open like this.



I hesitate to give the knee jerk reaction which is to bury them under the jail because I know that the community they are from has as much to blame in how these kids are than anything else.

But a solution is needed, I am all for separating the sex's by schools, uniforms and dividing classes by the caliber of students.

Snow Day!

I am trying to avoid posting on the weekends but this is the 2nd day it snowed in Atlanta and it's sticking.

I am thinking about acting like a southerner and hide in the house.

Not because I am scared of the snow I am a New Yorker there is no being scared of snow.

Naw what scares me are these country boys in the snow.

This is the day were if you live in Atlasnta you get to watch a free show of the Dukes of Hazzard on Ice right outside your window.

These fools can barely drive straight in dry weather, let alone rain, now snow?

When your time is up it is up but going out with some fools front tires on the back of my neck is not the way I want to go.

I might pull a skip day and play on the internet all day, I'll know for sure in a couple of hours.
