B.o.B - Lonely People

The beat is just sick and the lyrical content is good.

Only flaw is that they know the sample is tight but they over use it, a little more bars would could have been used here.

Looking forward to hearing more from this dude.

Good News Tuesday: Back To The Debates.

Movie revives black college's debate team.

MARSHALL, Texas - The movie "The Great Debaters" made millions aware of the decades-old accomplishments of the debate team at a small historically black college tucked deep in the piney woods of East Texas — and gave that history new life at the school itself.

Before work began on the film, the Wiley College team that broke racial barriers with several impressive victories in the 1930s was a faded memory. When the school received e-mails from debaters all over the country after the movie was released a year ago, there was no team for them to join.

That has changed, thanks to donations including $1 million from the movie's star and director, Denzel Washington. An 11-member team started debating this fall, and its ranks are expected to eventually grow to about 30.........

...........Haywood L. Strickland, the school's president since 2000, said the idea of restarting the program came while the movie crew was doing research on the campus. He said Washington's donation, helped jump-start its revival.

"We're always looking for ways in which to engage and excite students," he said. "It occurred to us that even though it's something built on history, it's been demonstrated this is a good way to get students involved."

Debate coach Shannon LaBove came to Wiley over the summer.

She whittled down the prospects to a team of 11, all of whom got some kind of scholarship.

The new team did an exhibition debate at Oklahoma City University in October to commemorate the 1931 meeting between the two teams, believed to have been the first interracial debate in the South.

"We have to make our own history, while respecting the previous," LaBove said.
She said this is a building year for the team, but she expects it to be nationally competitive within a couple of years.

"I think we want to once again put Wiley on the map as a force to be reckoned with," she said.

The primarily liberal arts university, founded in 1873, has 967 students and its enrollment has been climbing for the last eight years. It's located in Marshall, a town of about 24,000 not far from the Louisiana state line.

Public speaking and debate was one of those activities that I was forced to take as a kid in school.

Had absolutely no appreciation for it than but I think the world of it now as I see signs of that experience pop up in my life.

I am glad to see it make a come back in the college the movie was based on, and that Denzel continues to show why he is a class act.

What I am Rockin K'Naan (Feat. Chubb Rock)

K'Naan (Feat. Chubb Rock) - ABC's

Told you this dude was hot, and to bring back Chubb to show out on your track?

Hell it would be nice if some of the mainstream artist would show that kind of love.

Major respect for that.

I am hearing more quality music, now if we could get it on the radio.......

It Aint Even That Serious.

This right here............

....led to this BS right here.

And here.

Is this all you could find?

Huh?

This it?

You make a connection between two rappers whose reputations we all know and hint that Obama has given his approval to their message?

Damn Fox News going to fight it to the very end are we?

I got to say i admire your dedication to bull..er..I mean cause.

The pure indignity that is shown on the commentators face is priceless.

That's what kills me.

No scratch that, what really kills me is how all these people are so concerned for the welfare of the black community in particularly the young black people all of a sudden.

Up set that the these thug rappers are hijacking the minds of the black youth today.

Here is some news for you to report......

Now thats news, but hey at least I know now that I will be getting plenty of entertainment out of Fox for the next 4 years at least.

Unfortunately for them though MY PRESIDENT IS STILL BLACK.

Diversity Ink.

Just a reminder that I am also posting over at Diversity Ink.

Peace.

Deal Breakers 7: Multiple Baby Daddies.

Now I had to give this some thought.

I initially thought about excluding single mothers period, I have dated enough to know that all single mothers have baggage, PERIOD.

How big the baggage is depends on the woman's life circumstance, but regardless it's there.

It could be the absentee father or that the father is too present in her life, the age of the kids that require different levels of attention, time away from the kid, stress from being with the kids.

Than factor in that I like kids which means getting to know the kid but if the relationship fails than the kids are gone.

But than I had to think about it, it's rare to find a woman my age with out kids and the ones my age that don't have kids have some BS going on anyway.

Besides, because I have dated baby mommas there is nothing I haven't seen, I am a veteran.

But there is a segment of this group I will eliminate and that's the multi baby daddy baby momma.

I am not talking about multiple kids, multiple daddies.

Now don't get me wrong I understand the complexities that life throws are way, one baby daddy I can understand people make mistakes, fall in and out of love.

Two is reasonable some times your slow with it, and women when it comes to love to try, try and try again.

But three and above?

Three and above and the kids are like back to back?

Like if they fought each other the littlest one can hold his or her own?

Like if you took a family portrait it would look like a United Colors of Benetton ad?

That is a bit much, to me that is a sign of very poor judgement, and absolutely no thoughts about the future, this woman is living in the now so tomorrow never comes.

Now this isn't a point the finger game in a two person dance.

Both of y'all at fault for putting bunnies in the oven.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...you slept with old slue foot...........

......who bounced on you as soon as it got hot, I guess you should of made him put a ring on it first.

But how did Tyrone and Will get all up in you raw after that?

I can't take a woman like that seriously.

Deal Breaker.

The Day After.

Good day good people,

As I sip on my Haitian rhum, I contemplate what the future holds for the world with rise of Mr. President 44 as leader of the united States and de facto leader of the free world.

I have given it sober as well as drunken thought and I have come to the conclusion that I have no idea what the hell is next.

Oh, Mr. President and his supporters like me talked a good game to get him in office but now it's show and prove and damn if the mess left behind ain't deep, like Katrina deep.

But that's what makes it exciting, no?

A real challenge, a real opportunity to make some "game changing" moves in the world.

Are we going to finally let go of that childish grudge we held against Cuba?

Will we say enough is enough with Israel and Palestine?

Iraq?

Afghanistan?

The economy?

Health care?

I have no idea what he will start with or how he is going to go about his business but I am looking forward to seeing 44 get to work.

Oh one more thing, because I am the type to hold a grudge, (it's the Haitian in me)this one is for the G.O.P. and the fans of HRC.........

Only because I cant stand you mutha$%#^.

The last one I swear.

Diversity Ink

Before I forget yours truly has been given an opportunity to participate in a new blog called Diversity Ink.

Diversity Ink is a blog that touches on a variety of race matters. You'll read about not only our personal experiences, but our takes on current events, pop culture, and other topics that have a racial angle.

I think in light of the new President there should be more of an opportunity to speak openly about racial matters at all times.

Because as much as we like to say a "change has come" the truth is that on an individual basis things are very much the same.

So I would like all readers, lurkers and who ever else is out there to take the time to visit Diversity Ink and leave your two cents on matters that effect us all in this new era.

Incidentally my first post on their will be Thursday, I will be posting about street/sexual harassment and what it mean to as a black man.

See you there.

Good News Tuesday: What else is there for today?

What else can be said for Good News Tuesday?

What other thing is going on right now more significant?

Nada, thats what.

Kicked in the door with the 44 now the world wont be the same no more.

What I Am Rockin: Jesse Boykins III

Jesse Boykins III - Pantyhose

You heard the story of the old and young bull right?

If not here it goes.

An old and a young bull were sitting on a hill watching a herd of cows grazing below.

The young bull says to the old bull "lets run down there and fuck one of those cows".

The old bull says " No, lets walk down there and fuck them all."

This what I like to call old Bull music, thats the smooth music were you walk down from the hill get all the ladies.

Not threatening, respectful, attention is still the same but at her pace.

As opposed to the young bull music were everything is a borderline rape.

I like the beat and subject matter, very smooth reminds me of D'Angelo.

Movies I Want To See.

Hollywood suck these right here.....

......I am talking about both in the mouth at the same time.

There was only a handful of movies that made me want to open my wallet and go check them out.

Cause I tell you, between tickets, food, and the date, bootlegs look real good.

But here are some movies that could have me running to the theater.

Harriet Tubman story.

But I am talking about a good one, not some preachy BS, I am talking about some old Kill Bill meets Foxy Brown ish.

That's how you get the message across mix it up with some violence, bet you get people paying attention.

It attracts mine all the time.

And have Regina King play the role,

She just seems like the perfect fit.

Next is Jim Jones, no not the rapper for the young ones amongst you.

Jim Jones the preacher.

This role has Oscar written all over it if done right.

Were talking about charismatic white preacher with a predominantly black congregation who does something right by uplifting the people and than suddenly orchestrate one of the greatest mass killing ever.

The story needs to focus on the man, how he built up his church and what the hell went wrong, we need to see him go crazy on screen.

The role is best for some one with comedic experience I am thinking Dan Aykroyd.

Maybe I should become a producer, cause it's obvious Hollywood doesn't know what the F their doing.

What movies would you like to see?

Deal Breakers 6: The Unlady Like Lady.

OK this one I decided to mix together since I didn't see the reason to give the subjects special attention cause it would come off redundant.

This also will be a bit harsh so the sensitive among you may want to step.

Now I like to think of my self as a progressive man, all for women expressing themselves, women's rights, never had a real problem working for most of them, I am enlightened.

But I am an old school dude, what is considered the rights of women I have no interest in a relationship setting.

I expect women I date to look an act like a lady, that's that.

Unlady like behavior is amusing as hell, great for relaxing and kicking it with.

But the moment you start talking about a serious relationship that mess goes out the window with me.

That said lets take a look at what will not be tolerated by me.

#1 The Tomboy.

How are you going to have a closet full of clothes and not one dress?

Why do you have more sneakers than dress shoes and sandals?

Why the hell are you using my Mach 3 razor to shave your coochie!!?!?!?

What do you mean you don't know how to cook?

Why the hell are WE getting thrown out of the club/bar/movie theater/wherever cause YOU got into a fight?!

I don't like women who remind me of men, cause if I wanted to date that than I would go gay and since I like Power-U I will not.

But damn if I put up with a woman who looks like me when dressed.

And no you can NOT ride with me with your motorcycle we ain't bosom buddies.

That's what the back seat of mine is for.

#2 Cantankerous women.

These are the ones that can turn anything into a show stopper.

It don't matter what it is you say the sky is blue they say it ain't, you say hello and they you know me?

Everything is a battle, a attention grabber, a struggle.

The quintessential drama queen.

It's a never ending battle of will not to lose your decency and kill this woman.

Case in point.......

WTF??

I don't even play with women like that, the moment voices start getting raised I step, cause I don't know what I am capable of if lose it with a one of them.

#3 The uncivilized woman.

This one is the one that looks at you funny when you open the door for and they don't even say so much as a thank you.

This is the one who refuses the seat you offer them on a crowded bus because they do not want to feel obligated to say thank you.

This is the one that doesn't speak when spoken to cause she is afraid I am going to hit on her, like I know the magic words that will make you strip butt naked on spot.

Lady if I knew those magic words I wouldn't be sitting here blogging I would be out there filling the streets with booty naked women.

This is the one that looks at you and automatically see enemy, the same look you get from a Klansman.

True you don't owe me shit, but I damn sure don't owe you shit either including my respect.

You want to act like a dude that's on you, I will follow your lead and treat you like one.

Now we went all the way right lets us go all the way left.

#4 The advertiser.

Lets talk about the ones who like to advertise the goods my favorites.

Now when I was younger this was known as club wear, something you put on for the club to have a good time and to get men's attention.

Not to the grocery store, run errands in, movie theaters, mother's house, church, library, etc.

Why?

So you wouldn't be mistaken for a hooker that's why.

And since you were not mistaken for one you didn't get treated like one.

I bring this up because of this little diddly I found on the comment section of Eb's blog,

"I wrote a post, "The Preacher Woman's Tips For Getting A White Man" because I wanted to point out that there is a preparation process involved in leaving the all-black setting for social settings that have VERY DIFFERENT dynamics.

There is clothing AND body language that is accepted in the all-black construct that will have a black woman labeled as "whorish" in an all-white construct. I find that the assumption is that ONLY bimbos are overtly sexual.

In the all-black construct, THAT assumption is not being made about women who are dressed in a highly sexual manner.

In the all-white social setting, there are stereotypes about black women being "loose" that are further reinforced by overly sexual clothing choices.

There are many different aspects of the social construct that CHANGE when leaving an all-black social setting."

REEEAAAALLLLYYYY??????????

So I as a black man.......no scratch that.......that what is not being said let me make it clear.

I as a hyper sexual immoral beast, am more willing to accept and love and respect a scandalously dressed woman and a white man isn't?

Because of course I am a dumb animal right out the jungle, banana in hand who who doesn't know better.

Now if that is the case why aren't all of us jungle bunnies not marrying all these scantily clad women?

I mean that's the real issue here isn't it, marriage right?

And why are there so many scantily clad white women running around?

How is it they can go from Girls Gone Wild, Playboy, Hustler and than become some one's bride?

While their black counter parts are left chasing their left overs?

You will look like a street walker for me but look like a lady for him?

Because of course he is a man and I am a savage beast.

And than get mad at me for not wanting to marry you?

With a straight face?

This is what I call selling snake oil.

If any of you were thinking that please leave my blog right now and never return and let me know who you are so I stop visiting yours.

And I will speak for all of us speak chuckers when I say, you like the commentator who wrote that little piece, are full of shit.

Psst.

Pssst.

Psssssst come here......here is a little secret about black men that seems to always fly over the head of women we don't love hoes, we fuck them, we marry the ladies.

No self respecting black man is going to want to keep something that he thinks every one else can have.

There is no VALUE to that.

We had enough of that bullshit on the plantation.

Don't get me wrong there are men who have low self esteem that will accept this from women and I most certainly have no problem looking at one and parlaying with her but I ain't stupid.

This will sound harsh but the fact is if you look like a ho you will be treated like a ho.

Deal Breaker.

BTW let me say that these women I described above are in the minority, they do not represent what a black woman is and you would be foolish to think they do.

I have enough common sense and experience in the REAL WORLD to know that.

That and the fact that I come across worthy woman everyday.

Good News Tuesday:Chess Federation Lands Grant

Hip-Hop Chess Federation Lands Community Grant

While many of the country's educational programs are seeing funding cuts, in light of the recession, the Hip-Hop Chess Federation (HHCF) has received a community grant.

According to ThugLifeArmy, the unique project, focused on outreach of under served communities, was chosen by the Mitchell Kapor Foundation for funding.

"This community grant will allow us to take our first steps toward making this a coast-to-coast teaching/learning community," said the HHCF's Founder Adisa Banjoko. "If we are going to promote unity and non-violence in our schools and communities, we need to bring educators together to build a playbook of classroom strategies."

The Hip-Hop Chess Federation is a non-profit organization that fuses music, chess and martial arts together to promote unity, strategy and non-violence.

Now this is a positive twist to community activism, that was recognized for it's out side the box thinking.

Something that is sorely lacking when dealing with community problems.

I like playing chess, I used to get to do that at my old job with the patients, the best players were the ex-cons, I guess if you have all that time on your hands you get to play a lot.

With this you introduce a game that requires you to sit your butt down and think and plan ahead.

Add the fact that your teaching it to kids to keep them out of trouble and it's a plus.

People never fully grasp the concept that children are the future until of course it's too late.

Like say when it's your social security check that comes up short in your old age because not enough people are working.

That's of course because your crooked ass done locked up half the population, while the other half works it's self to death trying to undo the short sighted solutions that are now major problems that you called your self "helping" with.

Than it kind of sinks in right about the time your trying to find money for your medication.

Yeah....that's about right

Dont forget to check out Symphony and Ms. Marvalus for some more Good News.

What I am Rockin: Black Kids

I have no idea why they are called the Black Kids, but I know there music is tight.

Update: "We like that 'Black Kids' seems subversive," says Reggie Youngblood, the Jacksonville, Florida, group's lead singer and one of its two black members. (His younger sister, Ali, is the other.) But Youngblood admits the name is trickier for the quintet's white kids. "For a while, when a stranger asked about the band, they'd just say, 'Oh, you haven't heard of us.'"

Subversive...really?

OSF: Music The Year You Graduated High School

I ain't going to lie my year was serious for music.

I made this easy for y'all, what year did I graduate with out cheating.

You believe how tame this video is compared to what is out today?

And can we say that this video marked a turn in body images for black women that is still going on today?

You know I wasn't a fan of hers till she came out with this song, up until this point I thought she was just getting off on voice.

Monkeys with Guns 8

I was going to kick off what I thought was a great Wordless Wednesday by making it about art appreciation and basically asking what the piece meant to the viewer.

But unfortunately I live in a country were assholes rule the land and dominate the mind.

And those assholes protect their rule with guns.

I controlled my self long enough to save this post for today as opposed to posting it Tuesday and ruining my Good News Tuesday series.

But I got to get it out because when you hold things like this in that how innocent people catch it when you inadvertently snap.

Lets take this incident with a baboon.

How do you explain that?

How do you rationalize this?

How the hell does anyone make sense of this?

This ape just pulled a public execution of an unarmed man while he was laying face down in front of witnesses?

Did he actually think he was going to get away with this?!

I don't care what those kids were doing, and I am inclined to believe that they might have been up to no good by just being my cynical self.

That is no excuse.

I want to see the cops try to take this to trial.

I want some one to fix their mouths and try to explain this for anything than what it is cold blooded murder.

I thought I was watching war footage from Gaza.

And of course this video reminded me of this next one.

I stayed away from this because I wanted to think and mull over this free from anger, free the bile of hate that swelled up in me when I first saw this.

I wanted to think about this clear of thought so that I wouldn't have the urge to attack the first white person I saw, who I may have thought slighted me triggering the event.

But I am still angry, I still want to hurt some one, badly.

I still want to hurt any one who looks like them and hurt anyone who associates with anyone who looks like them be they black, man, or woman.

Every time I think I have it under control something else triggers it.

Like when you say the word war.

War implies that two organized armed sides struggling against each other over something.

It implies that those black men knew they were being hunted.

It implies that they had a fighting chance.

It implies that after days of going without food and water, and trying to stay alive that these men banded together and decided to invade a town to rape and pillage it!

This is not what happened here, this was an organized hunting party whose only purpose was to kill anything that did not look like them.

This was mob justice, murder, massacre, there are a whole lot of things you can call it but war is most definitely not one of them.

This was a bunch of murders who looked at another human being and made the decision that there lives were worth less than a fucking dogs.

Than my anger rises again as I watch them sit back in their arrogance, and brag about it as if it were no different from hunting a deer in the forest.

On camera!

If they thought they could get away with it trust me when I say that some of them would have had a black man's head hanging on their wall as a trophy.

But no even for them that would be too much, best leave the bodies in the river to rot.

Damn whoever might be looking for them.

Damn if some one might miss them.

No I cant give you any rational for this.

Only thing I can suggest is to see about signing the online petition at Color Of Change here.

That's all I got to say about it.

Good News Tuesdays: The Black Church

Sickle cell awareness in churches increases black blood donors
Thursday, December 18, 2008 5:46 p.m. CST
BY CHERYL WITTENAUER/The Associated Press

ST. LOUIS — Sickle cell researchers in St. Louis say they've significantly increased blood donations to fight the disease with appeals targeted at predominantly black church congregations in the city.

Blacks have tended not to donate blood, they said, but the St. Louis program appears to have changed some minds.

Michael DeBaun, a sickle-cell disease specialist at St. Louis Children's Hospital, launched Sickle Cell Sabbath and blood donation drives five years ago at 13 predominantly black churches in St. Louis.

On Sundays from February to June, the congregations learned about the disease and treatment benefits of blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants. Church-sponsored blood drives were encouraged.

Of the nearly 700 donors who participated in blood drives, 422, or 60 percent, were first-time donors.

Results of the study are published in the advance online publication of the journal Transfusion.

Now I chose this one for Good News Tuesday because I always thought the church in particular black churches got an unfair shake when it came to community woes.

It seem like we blame the church for not doing enough to address certain issues within the community, when the church through it's teachings does just that, we just choose not to listen.

I mean think about.

Church says do not have premarital sex or commit adultery, we choose to ignore that.

Thus we choose to have out of wed lock children, broken hearts, HIV, crime (mostly committed by single men and women), delinquent kids, and so on.

Than we blame the church when Junebug the bastard child of Betty, (who slept with a married Pat), gets 13 year old Shelia pregnant, (who caught Herpes from 21 year old Tyrone who caught it from Betty), decides he is going to shoot Brother Pat for not paying for the cocaine he fronted him, which Pat used to get high with and screw Bernice, Shelia's mother, who is the cousin of Denise, Pat's wife who is now sleeping with Tyrone.

Get it?

Now I don't want to get on a soap box on Good News Tuesday, but I figure I should explain why I chose this.

This is the type of church activity I would like to see more of.

The type that addresses community concerns that are not covered in the good book.

Spread the news to your church.

Stunna of the Month: Toccara Jones

Back to the Stunnas of the Months!!

I stopped posting these cause I really didn't see any women that moved me anywhere other in my pants.

But why pass on an opportunity to drool at beautiful women because they are not building rockets to Mars?

So for January I open back up the Stunnas of the month with Toccara Jones.

Toccara Jones (born March 13, 1981) from Dayton, Ohio, is an American fashion model, occasional actress and television personality.

Jones was a contestant on the third season of the UPN series America's Next Top Model.

Jones attended Stivers School for the Arts in Dayton, where she majored in theatre and dance.

She was the seventh contestant eliminated on the third cycle of America's Next Top Model, where she won "Covergirl of the Week" four times. She was recently voted as one of the most memorable contestants by AOL Entertainment

Jones was honored by the Middleton Ohio NAACP at the Freedom Fund Gala. She received a key to the city.....

Now Toccara is what we call Amazon, meaty in all the right places and height to go with it.

Type of women that when you see her makes you hungry for some catfish that don't come out of no lake.

You look at her and the way she carries her self and you see promises of satisfaction guaranteed.

Curves above and below the stomach area crowned with a oval face big eyes, thick lips and a smile that lights up a room.

Stunna of the month is Toccara Jones.

Deal Breaker 5: Low Self Esteem.

For those who have not gotten locked up, admitted to the hospital, alcohol poisoning, woken up to a stranger an are now on the way to get tested for a STI, and or have a hangover..........I am sorry your New Years was so damn boring.

For those who did do one or more of the above....at a boy and girl.

Moving on.

There is nothing more unattractive than a woman with low self esteem, nothing.

I don't care how fine she is.

You can pull any woman off my Stunna list here, to see the type of woman who I think are fine.

But take away those same women's poise, confidence, swagga?

Than they are the ugliest trolls to walk the earth.

Ive come across women like that all the time in my adventures in romance.

Women who think a man who beats on them is showing them love.

Women who look at super models and swear they themselves are too fat.

Women who look at video models and swear they themselves are too skinny.

Dark skin women who want to be light.

Light skin women who want to be dark.

My favorites are the ones who like to break down their blood line to you, I got Indian, Arab, white, Chinese, or what ever in them.

Like I can tell or care.

Now don't get me wrong in a country were beauty is obsessed over, and the media plays mind tricks on what that beauty looks like women have it tough.

You would have to raise a little girl in a cave away from TV, magazines, Internet and boys to get her mind completely right.

But that's little girls, I shouldn't have to put up with a grown woman depressed because her insecurities kick in the moment she doesn't get enough attention.

Tell her she is beautiful she thinks your teasing her.

Another woman walks in the room and she think you want to sleep with her.

Blames every one but her self for the way she feels.

How you see your self is what other people will pick up on and give right back to you.

You got to love your self before some can love you.

Deal Breaker.
