Quote for the day

"It aint where your from it's were your at.."

Rakim -I know U got Soul-

Once again.

The Internet is getting more seedier than usual these days.

The thing is that the main subject of this video and a another girl who got busted on my space came from two parent homes, so the lack of a role male model was no excuse, neither reports got into why these particular young girls were doing this and lying about there age.

The other thing thing is that it is black men who have been getting busted for being the johns in these cases.

I suspect the motivation behind this has more to do with these young girls trying to live up to some image of what a woman is supposed to be and do than a need for love or money.

The parents also come into question for not knowing what there kids are up to on the computer, or there were abouts, i can understand a single parent with multiple kids being stretched to his or hers limit when it comes to tracking down your kids but in a two parent home?

I think things are more complicated than what they seem.

It's best to start asking these women for a birth certificate and Id when you meet them.

This is how you move the crowd.

Rappers take note.

Stunna of the Month 15: Taral Hicks

Taral Hicks

I was channel surfing when I came across this video on BET, (don't ask), they were doing a special countdown hosted by Kanye West were he was going over his favorite music videos which were all directed by Hype Williams (my man needs to make another movie asap).

The video that was playing was Taral Hicks remake of Silly.

I forgot all about this woman which is impressive since I got the movie Belly and I always repeat the love scene between her and DMX.

Actually can any one really call that a love scene?

It was more of a borderline mugging, but sexy like.

This is another woman that never seems to get enough air time on radio and the big screen.

I also forgot how stunning the lady looks, which than made me want to dust off the Stunna list which I put to bed a while back.

It was getting to hard to pick well rounded or meaningful women every week so I just quit it.

So no I am bring it back once a month starting with June and Taral.

Quote of the day

Ill not listen to reason. Reason means what some one else has got to say.

Elizabeth Gaskell -Toronto Globe-

Movies I like: William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet (1996)

I had to do time in an all boys Catholic school in New York when I was a kid and they had this Brother Thomas there.

Now Brother Thomas taught literature there but not any old literature, Shakespeare.

Studying and teaching William Shakespeare was this one dude's pleasure in life, no one could pour into it analyze every asinine, minute detail like he could with Shakespeare.

His dedication to Shakespeare was only rivaled by another Brother by the name of Pat who had a jones for the Canterbury Tales.

I hated William Shakespeare because of him and I refused add to that dead man's fame by supporting his work.

I mean it didn't help any that the language was dated like the whole time period, so you can imagine a young black kid like my self finding little interest in reading the soap opera drama of dead white people from another country.

So I just brushed off good old Willie's work till I met a young lady, who's name now escapes me, who insisted that are first date be to see the movie William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes.

We all know the story of two star crossed lover, children of sworn enemies who tragically lose there live because of there parent hate.

Nothing new here in the story, what counts is how you tell it.

I have to give props were props were due, director Baz Luhrmann, how he told the story actually had me paying attention to his movie, stopping me cold from my plan of copping feels of every part of my date's body.

The guns, the cinematography, cars, costumes and music all had me glued to the screen.

I finally got it, and understood what Willie was driving at just by watching that one movie.

This is how it should have been taught to me instead of Brother Thomas borderline torture sessions.

Since that movie I have tried to watch every remake of Willie's work and I have to say the ones I have seen all sucked.

Which makes this Rome and Juliet stand out all the more.

I got the DVD as soon as it came out and still watch it every now and than.

I recomend it for people who want there teenagers to have a little culture about them.

Joke for the Day

A couple is lying in bed.

The man says, 'I am going to make you the happiest woman in the world..'

The woman replies, 'I'll miss you...'

Products: E-Readers

I am some what of a book rat, if I like a book, graphic novel, comic what ever it stays.

Some where, on the shelve, under the bed, on the table where ever. Until it's time to move and I realize I got to haul all this pulp around.

But I cant throw them away, because some of them are hard to come by or just not in print.

There is my Brotherman comics, Hard covers of Steven Barnes work, Imaro by Charles Saunders, Sun Tzu's Art of War, Good P@#!y by Donald Spears, Black Panther graphic novel and others.

I hate giving them away, selling them or tossing them because I want them.

So when people started talking about E-Readers.....

I got happy quick.

Finally somewhere to keep my collection without having to break my back.

You see I am more into the writing than the physical book it's self.

Not interested in first editions and what not, just the knowledge or story.

So putting everything in a suped up pocket PC seems like a great idea, it will solve my storage problems, make me feel less guilty about trees getting chopped for a book, and motivate me to buy more books or e-books rather.

That is till I did some research.

Now I am only interested in the e-book aspect of the devices so I do not care if it plays mp3s or what type of PDA files it is compatible with.

But here is the problem, remember those rare prints?

Good luck trying to find those as an e-book, or much of anything else for that matter.

Despite the fact that the e-readers are growing in popularity publishers are not keeping up fast enough.

Not even the bootleg sites that give the stuff away free have what I want.

Besides the fact that I like the authors to get there money because they usually do good work consistanly, unlike music artist, (try finding a good ALBUM).

Than there is the graphic novel issue, a lot of these readers are black and white only which kills that idea.

And of course there is the price ranging from 150-400 bucks, for a speciality electronic that is way to much.

Add the fact that I cant get the text books I need on there and its a wrap.

I know the product is new so it'll take time for everything to catch up but I want mine now.

I'll just have to wait till it catches up with me.

Nothing particularly special about this pick, I just always thought she was a good looking woman.

True Story 8: Im not bragging.

I'm not bragging or anything but I have been out and about all summer and on the down time surfing the net so I have noticed some things.

In this case what I noticed that my feet look better than most women's.

I have been in blase blah mode all summer being real lazy since the fiasco that was my winter semester of school, so I have been walking around in flip flops, and so when ever I sneak a peek at a women's foot my eyes inadvertently goes back to my own.

I guess since I always wore shoes so I never noticed.

I mean they are Men's feet muscular, veins, a little hairy, but symmetrical and with out bruises.

Shocking considering how much I kick around in them.

It really became apparent a couple of months ago when I gave a friend a ride to the nail shop so she can get her hands and toes done and decided what the hell let me try it.

I got to say it was not bad, the Korean lady massaged my legs all the way up to the knees filed down the nails, pain free, and put some clear stuff on there that made it shine.

Now of course the place was full of women so I am looking at every one else's feet and I was definitely not impressed.

Some had corn on their toes, others had their toes sitting on top of each other, (I tired not to laugh when the one tech tried to straighten on this ladies toes so she could do her work and the damn things kept jumping on top of each other), there was one foot were the ladies middle toes were longer than the big toe, like some type of alien foot.

Than their were the fat toes and stubby toes, on and on, the crazy thing was that the prettier the woman the more twisted her feet were.

I know they saw my feet, and heard the tech compliment me on my feet, a point my friend refused to disscus with me.

Now I have no idea why there is a decline in the apperance of toes from women, maybe it has to do with the shoes, but I am definitely getting a kick out of it.

I'm going to take a picture of my feet and post it to show what I mean.

My Baby Mama.

Lol, Keith Olbermann be killing me.

Are you really surprised?

I wish I could say I was surprised by this taster of unripe vagina, getting to Step into the sun set but I am not.

The moment people started arguing if that was really him and the "victims" started denying, it was a wrap.

The question is who do you blame for this?

Before the 2nd allegation jumped off I asked some friends what they thought.

Now every brotha I asked had the same answer, which was he did it, it was wrong, and if you pushed for a black and white answer hard enough they would say yeah he needs to be in jail.

I had asked some lady friends what they thought of ol Kelly and the response was left or right, all agreed that he makes good music.

They either thought he should be in jail or that he should walk.

Funny thing is the ones that thought that he should walk felt that it was the girls fault, "she knew what she was doing..." was the common response.

The irony is that those women all had something in common, which was they were introduced to sex at an early age by an older boy or man.

The ones who felt Kelly should be in jail tended to be more established in life or on the path, but they were really not to convincing when they said it.

Now I am not blaming the victims, the courts, police, or even R. Kelly the bigger issue here to me are women.

If you ask me Kelly had it easy from women, they let dude skate.

Which is ironic considering that black men have become the favorite punching bag of the sistas of late, and to tell you the truth not with out some good reasons.

But this dude right here was a clear cut villian, but I didnt hear about any protest out side of his concerts like the Spellman girls did Nelly for sliding a credit card down a grown woman's butt.

No turning there backs on him like they did Wesly Snipes when he he put his foot in his dumb mouth with comments about black women.

Blogosphere had an answer for every thing a brotha does from dead beat dad sites to IR sites and so on, were was the convict R. Kelly sites?

To be honest though the solution though is not in the hands of black women I believe, the brothas dropped the ball on this one.

We should of been in that monkey's ass the first time around, we should of been the ones snatching his CD out of the hands of the tweenies and breaking it, should of been the ones calling the radio station and saying stop playing that mess, questioning how this fool gets awards on tv.

To late now though, this fool is going to be sliding his way right into the bank.

But that's ok because "he makes good music".

Quote of the day

"So why you, why you Why you, why you, why you are we so in denial
When we are not happy heeeerrreeee..."

Andre 3000 "Hey Ya"

True Story 7: The Good Girl.

"You are so gracious, kind & Thoughtful" That is what she told me, I wanted to puke.

This lady has been in my sights for a minute now.

I have been plotting on that booty for a while, the problem is that she is to much of a match for me the kinda of woman that could wind up having me rename this blog or shutting it down.

I am not trying to see that, what is blowing my mind is neither is she, at least knowing the way I am.

Ive known her for a while now from my old job, she has two kids from some sorry ass baby daddies, she struggles on her own while going to school, working and raising the kids.

We clicked upped real good like a couple of thieves in a room full of Saints.

The thing is that we are on cross roads of our lives and the route were taking is going opposite ways.

She has a plan for her life, she want the house, the 40k and up job, the man who will be the father to the kids, she wants the life of Leave it to Beaver, anything else is a distraction.

I want the condo/loft, 40k and up job, travel the world, and yes I like kids, want kids, but damn sure not thinking about kids right now, I want the life of John Shaft, anything else is a distraction.

When were around each other were cool though.

I even agreed to go see that stupid Color Purple musical when it comes to town, (who the hell makes a musical about a woman getting your ass whipped?).

But during the course of conversation one night were I was laying my game down flatter than Hallie Berry's ass, she tells me what she expects out of me and that's why she has been blocking my advances like the New York Giants offensive line.

Before I could counter she says she has to attend to one of the kids call her tomorrow.

And that's when my mind got the better of my penis

She was right, I know me, there is no way I would be happy playing the family life and that's exactly what I would be doing playing it.

I got too much of "I wonder whats on the other side of that hill?" in me.

I'm the type to get out of bed with her one morning and call her from Zanzibar, Africa later that day like nothing was wrong.

She deserves better than that and I knew it, so the next day I told her so and I told her i was rooting for her.

That's when I got the "You are so gracious, kind & thoughtful" BS.

My own penis wanted to jump out my pants and slap me across the face and say "you see what that got you stupid!"

The nice guy/friend.

Hell with that I would rather have the booty, I know the dog in me.

Just cause she is fine.

I got to say my baby's new hair do is working!

Quote for the Day: June 10

"History is indeed little more than the register of the crimes, follies, and misfortunes of man kind"

Edward Gibbon -Washington Post-

Spike Does it Again

Spike Lee has managed to piss off one of my mothers favorite actors Clint Eastwood.

The beef started over Eastwood's two WWII movies "Flags of our Fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima."

Spike felt Lee white washed the film as in now showing any black men's contribution to the effort.

Clint says he was being historically accurate (which he wasn't black were there, they didn't raise the flag but they were there.), and things got testy from there.

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/movies/2008/06/06/2008-06-06_clint_eastwood_fires_back_at_spike_lee_o.html

I didn't see the movies because just looking at the trailers they looked boring, but I didn't need to see it to know that there was a good chance they would be on the light hand side.

And that doesn't bother me because unlike the days past we can tell our stories which is exactly what Spike is doing with Miracle at Saint Anna based on a novel of a true story by James McBride.

The book of the same name is about the fate of four black soldiers caught behind enemy lines in World War II Italy in a village were the residents were massacred by German S.S. soldiers.

"To see the poster of the movie go to http://www.invisible-cinema.blogspot.com/"

Years ago I would of been bent out of shape just like Spike because there would be no one championing African American cause.

But that is why we got Spike,

Denzel,

Kasi Lemmons,

and Danny Glover

(he is doing a "historical action epic based on the life of Toussaint L'Ouverture, who led a successful slave rebellion in the 18Th century that sparked the Haitian Revolution" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0785063/)

they have a enough pull and money to tell it how it really is.

There is more room for other directors to be added on to that.

Now I am not saying directors who like to twist history should not be held accountable for it, they should cause left unchecked will have stuff like Malcom X played by Johhny Depp or MLK starring Gerard Butler or some other mess.

I just don't get upset any more because one I am no longer surprised and two I got Spike.

I rather take black directors to task for not making the movies that I want to see than begging the white ones to think about me too.

2 Down 2 to Go!

I am taking perverse pleaure in watching this go down.

As the pressure builds Kobe will take more shots and the rest of his team will turn into bystanders, and making the Celtics job easier.

But the Celtics need to do 3 things:

1- Close out the show, LA almost pulled it off in the 4Th quarter from 20 down. They pulled that stunt on the Spurs which means they can turn it on when they want. don't sleep on them.

2- Take the road games seriously! Steal one, hell sweep them LA can easily win 3 straight, leaving Boston down 3-2 and that give LA the punchers chance in game 6 and 7. Home court don't mean jack. Finish them.

3- Play team defense, Phil is already prepping the ref about foul calls in Boston which means he is looking to get the same for the Lakers in LA and he will get them. There was a huge foul difference between LA and opposing teams when playing in LA as opposed to the road. Stupid fouls will get the Celtics killed.

That being said GO CELTICS!

Quote for the day: June 3

Among the maxims on Lord Naoshige's wall there was this one: Matters of great concern should be treated lightly.'

Master lttei commented: Matters of small concern should be treated seriously.

-"Hagakure" Yamamoto Tsunetomo-

Yeah I understand that, it's can be hell to pay when we put off the little things until one day we look up and the next thing you know you have an army of problems that eat up the most valuable thing you got and cant get back time.

And of course there are big problems we can not do anything about because the ball is not on our side of the court so we waist time stressing it.

The earlier part of the year was like that for me, this time around I am nipping things in the bud and saving my self the headache.

R.I.P: Bo Diddley December 30, 1928 – June 2, 2008

Man I did not see this one coming at all.

It's easy to take people even legends for grant it, you dont go to the concerts or buy the music because in your mind you think there always going to be there, than you wake up and there gone.

And you never get a chance to say thanks for the sounds.

Diddley died of heart failure at his home in Archer, Fla., spokeswoman Susan Clary said. He had suffered a heart attack in August, three months after suffering a stroke while touring in Iowa. Doctors said the stroke affected his ability to speak, and he had returned to Florida to continue rehabilitation.

He was 79.

Critics say he was the bridge between blues and Rock n Roll and if you listen to his music you can see why.

I know Heaven is rocking hard tonight.

R.I.P.

It's On! (but I am still hating)

VS

I cant believe the league got exactly what they were looking for in this match up.

I am watching this series under protest, because the cynic in me (or could be the Knick in me), swears this was a set up.

LA gets Paul Gasol handed to them for peanuts after Kobe showed his thong all summer asking for a trade.

Boston pulls the old boys club hook up and get KG for jack.

And I do not care what any one says LA GOT ALL THE CALLS AT HOME, it didnt make sense the number of fouls shot they took and opposing teams did'nt.

Nope this stinks.

Yet I am still watching, and I am going to root (God forgive me) for the Celtics, only because i like KG and Pierce that all so with that the Corona and rhum are at the ready for Thursday so let the games begin.

GO Celtics!
