If you live in Georgia than your familiar with one of the favorite radio talk show hosts Neal Boortz, and if you have been paying attention to the net you also that Neal has put his foot in his mouth yet again.

“We got too damn many urban thugs, yo, ruining the quality of life for everybody. And I’ll tell you what it’s going to take. You people, you are – you need to have a gun. You need to have training. You need to know how to use that gun… We need to see some dead thugs littering the landscape in Atlanta. We need more dead thugs in this city.”



Truth be told if you heard Neal before there is nothing here really to shock you, in fact the uproar about what he said is more interesting than his comments.

I've listen to his show before, he is a professional provocateur but I wouldnt call him a racist as of yet off this which is the popular charge leveled at him based off his comments. This is right up his alley, to get under people's skin and get them to start talking. Unfortunately he has a point, Atlanta has a visible crime, ( although I do not know if it is because crime is growing in Atlanta or because of Gentrification more whites are moving in and being exposed to it), the Five Point area, the intersection of the public transit system of Atlanta, Mogadishu on a good day. The mass of lower wealth income city dwellers alone is good enough to scare the hell out of people not used to "urban" cities. Hell it will make the hair on the back of the neck of the most street savvy kid stand up. For a city like Atalanta to have a major intersection in it's city were tourist, students, (GSU and GT is a few blocks away), residents and visitors come through being loitered to death by criminals, (yeah a lot of them are thugs), is inexcusable.

But so is what Niel Boortz is advocating, it is not hard to get a gun legal or otherwise in Atlanta and Niel knows it. Giving advice to listeners to Cowboy up and "protect" your self from those who look different from you is begging for trouble. And lets be honest the only people his listeners are going to be shooting at are those who look different from them, insert the face of every young black male that you know here.........regardless if sagging pants are worn or not.

What is annoying here is that a guy Neal's age should have accumulated the wisdom by now to know that this is NOT how you solve crime, if that is truly his intent. Jobs, education, breaking the cultural cycle of poverty that instills a fear of success in the minds of kids, thats how you fight it.

But than again that is a tall order for people to accomplish in this country, just easier to shoot em up.

Oh well time to break out the kevlar.

I Swear I Hate MARTA.........

MARTA is short for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, the bus and train service.

Now before I go off I will admit that my standards for public transportation is high.

I grew up in New York city, I'm not some suburbanite walking around in awe and scared of his own shadow when surrounded by "strange" looking people.

To be honest I like the adventure that you may be subject to when riding the public system.

I don't mind the old Asian lady who hops on the train and passes out her Jesus Saves pamphlets to every one.

The old black man who when not talking and laughing to himself calls everyone "dad" and bums everything from money to cigarettes at damn near every station, he is cool with me.

I don't mind the unruly alternative school kids that cause havoc when class is out, talking loud cursing and fighting.

The random burst of craziness that you get from the people with mental health issues with no where to go so they ride up and down the train routes, even when they break out into a Soulja Gurl like incident.



The DL homosexuals who ride late night trying to pick up other DL men and thus inevitably hit on straight men.

Side Note: One night after leaving work, I was on the train being watched by this dude who was built like and offensive linemen. I thought it's about to go down, this asshole thinks he is going to walk off with my wallet, than he winks at me an puckers up his lips. Hell I would have preferred that he was a mugger I promptly made my way to the next car.

I can put up with that.

What I cant put up with is a poorly run business like MARTA.

I cant put up with buses late to arrive and late to leave cause the damn bus driver is doing everything but driving the bus.

Like the one who driver who decides she needs to have a conversation with every other bus driver before she pulls off.

I cant stand the fact that YOU KNOW the damn Falcons or the Georgia Tech Football teams have home games and you don't schedule more train running thus flooding the platform with drunk fans who have no idea that your supposed to WAIT AND MAKE ROOM for arriving passengers to get off the train or bus before trying to get on.

The idiots block the doors and look at you like your crazy when you don't move, like your supposed to teleport your way out of there.

Move!

Then there is the lousy scheduling for people who work third shift or out in the sticks.

Let you not make that train station by 1245, your stuck where ever your at.

This city forces you to get a car, and that's for real.

I like riding good public transit but when i moved down here it was so random i had to learn to drive, at 21 years old.

Then they got the nerve to hike fairs, and people have the nerve to complain about traffic.

I swear I hate MARTA.

Reason To Require a License To Have Kids Vol 5.

Kid's testicles probably haven't dropped yet and he is already getting a lap dance.

Life is going to be interesting for this little fellow and in return I am sure he will make life interesting for the rest of us.

I kept wishing grandma would walk in and just kick this hoochies ass Madea style but in this world grandma's are young enough to be getting into trouble themselves.

Rocky Mountain Serial Killer update.

The news on the serial killer who is targeting black women in Rocky Mountain NC is that,(drum roll), that it has made the news.



Also that they are saying it is a serial killer, although I do not believe that is the official stance cause that should have brought in the FBI, I would think.

I wonder what the magic number is before they start calling a string of murders done by the same person to unrelated victims a serial killing?

What ever that is I am sure you would have to multiply that by 5 if the victims are black add another 5 if there women.

Public Service Announcement 10: MOMS

This is not about MILFs, (I'll save that for another time).

MOMS is actually a acronym for Missing Or Murdered Sisters, a group of residents in North Carolina has placed a digital billboard up in their community showing the faces of the the missing and murders of black women the city of Rocky Mountain (read here).

5 of the murders are connected which is a sign that there is a serial killer out there who is targeting black women with similar backgrounds.

The murders date back to 2005 and progress has been slow in solving the cases as well as very little public attention given to it.

There are a number of reason why this might be, first being that the women are all black.

In a society that sees very little value in the lives of blacks in general, even among our own, the sad truth is the lives of black women are seen as doubly cheap and thus expendable.

To add on to this the life style of the women, who struggled with drug addiction and engaged in prostitution, may have consciously or subconsciously allowed the public to dismiss the murders all together as something of a "natural" occurrence to people in that life style.

That type of thinking is cruel and dangerous.

These women were human beings first.

These women were someones mother, daughter, sister, cousin, and or friend.

Some one at one time or another loved them and will miss them.

No one can be certain what the circumstances in their lives were that led them down this path but I have learned over time a turn left instead of right, a choice taken or not taken, a choice forced upon you, can easily be the difference maker on whether you become a CEO or First Lady or a junkie and or worse.

What I am certain is that if given the right amount of time, attention, and help anyone can change, but these women were robbed of even that small opportunity, something they were at the very least deserving of having.

Surely their lives were worth that small price.

And despite the pattern who is to say that the next woman would not be a stand up citizen in society?

A single working mother on her way home from a long day at work.

A college student rushing to class to take her final.

A house wife shopping for the kids.

A young lady starting a job in the career she worked hard to get.

Whose to say it wouldn't be you?

That control is not in your hands, it's in the hands of a predator who sees you as prey.

He is the judge, jury, an executioner, playing God with someones life.

If not for their lives than what about yours?

I joke around about I thank God I was born a man but not really, it's hell out here for women and black women rank last in that category, that needs to change like yesterday.

Good News Tuesday:Chess Federation Lands Grant

Hip-Hop Chess Federation Lands Community Grant

While many of the country's educational programs are seeing funding cuts, in light of the recession, the Hip-Hop Chess Federation (HHCF) has received a community grant.

According to ThugLifeArmy, the unique project, focused on outreach of under served communities, was chosen by the Mitchell Kapor Foundation for funding.

"This community grant will allow us to take our first steps toward making this a coast-to-coast teaching/learning community," said the HHCF's Founder Adisa Banjoko. "If we are going to promote unity and non-violence in our schools and communities, we need to bring educators together to build a playbook of classroom strategies."

The Hip-Hop Chess Federation is a non-profit organization that fuses music, chess and martial arts together to promote unity, strategy and non-violence.

Now this is a positive twist to community activism, that was recognized for it's out side the box thinking.

Something that is sorely lacking when dealing with community problems.

I like playing chess, I used to get to do that at my old job with the patients, the best players were the ex-cons, I guess if you have all that time on your hands you get to play a lot.

With this you introduce a game that requires you to sit your butt down and think and plan ahead.

Add the fact that your teaching it to kids to keep them out of trouble and it's a plus.

People never fully grasp the concept that children are the future until of course it's too late.

Like say when it's your social security check that comes up short in your old age because not enough people are working.

That's of course because your crooked ass done locked up half the population, while the other half works it's self to death trying to undo the short sighted solutions that are now major problems that you called your self "helping" with.

Than it kind of sinks in right about the time your trying to find money for your medication.

Yeah....that's about right

First I am glad first that she got the help that she needed, I knew her and I said it before that what you saw on the train was not her, once she was on her meds she was a very sweet calm young lady.

Second I am glad the court system came to their sense and recogized her as some one who needed help and that all of her problems including criminal matters was a result of her mental illness and not that of a "criminal".

Third I hope this will get more peole talking about the issues of the people with mental disorders and how we should relate to them.
